This two-day course is appropriate if you have previously used Crystal Reports to produce simple reports from a database “back-end” and would like to extend your knowledge to cover techniques and features of Crystal that allow the creation of more complex reports.
NB This course makes use of Appcon courseware.
It is assumed you have good general computing skills, are familiar with the Windows environment and have a broad understanding of relational databases. It also assumes that you have completed our Crystal Reports Introduction course of have equivalent experience.
At Course Completion
At the completion of the course, you should be able to create and format complex reports from a variety of “back-end” data sources. These reports will allow user intervention to determine the output at run-time.
This course is based on a multiple table Access database as the data source. Alternatively, the course can be customised to reflect the client database environment; such customisation may incur additional cost.
Create and use parameter fields
Create and modify running totals
Use arrays and ranges in formula
Introduce Evaluation Time functions and use For and While constructs in formula
Create and customise charts and maps
Modify, add, merge and delete report sections
Apply advanced conditional formatting techniques to report objects
Create, modify and delete report alarms
Create and use sub-reports
Use the Business Objects Enterprise Repository
Manage report projects using the Workbench
Use ODBC to access data from different data sources
Create SQL commands (queries) and reports based on these queries
