This is a half-day course. The Self-Service Business Intelligence (BI) has rapidly grown in popularity because of its ability to allow users to generate reports, process data, perform analysis all without having to depend on a report developer.
Using Power BI eliminates complications and barriers with a simple integrated user interface, and has the ability to publish rapidly to either a cloud-based or an on-premise portal to share reports easily. This introduction to Power BI explores the features that enable the rapid creation and publication of sophisticated data visualizations.

Prerequisite skills/knowledge:

Before attending this course, students must have:

  • Knowledge of relational databases and reporting.
  • Some basic knowledge of data warehouse schema topology (including star and snowflake schemas).
  • Some exposure to basic programming constructs (such as looping and branching).
  • An awareness of key business priorities such as revenue, profitability, and financial accounting is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications – particularly Excel.

Goals and Expectations:

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Develop reports using the Power BI Desktop APP.
  • Use report items to create dashboards on the Power BI
  • Understand the components of the Power BI service including licensing and tenant management.
